Cushion Foam Insertion Guide

Please complete the following steps in order, to ensure a flawless finish:

1.  Prepare the Cover

Take care to fully unzip the cushion cover, for maximum opening.

2. Align the Foam Inner With the Cushion Cover

Before inserting, carefully match the foam insert to the cover:
Ensure the length and depth of the foam corresponds with the length and depth of the cover.
If your set includes an inner liner with zipper, align this with the cover's zipper.
Covers and inners supplied by Ikira, will have zippers that naturally align.

3. Insert the Foam Inner With Care

Fold the foam insert in half by bringing the left and right edges together.
Maintain the alignment from Step 2 and begin inserting the foam into the cushion cover.
Always compress the foam rather than pulling on the cover fabric, as pulling may damage
zipper teeth, stitching, or fabric.
When folded correctly, the cover should glide smoothly over the foam.

4. Position the Insert

With the foam still folded, gently pull the cover over the insert, as far as possible.
Gently release the foam and allow it to expand into position.
[For removal, simply reverse this folding technique]
Remember to always compress the foam insert fully and minimise pressure on the cushion cover.

5. Align the Corners

Gently guide the foam insert so all eight corners (on square and rectangular cushions) fit
snugly into the cover's corners.
Carefully push the foam into place until it rests firmly against the side furthest from the zipper.
Work methodically around each corner to ensure perfect alignment.

6. Final Alignment

Check that the edges of the foam align with the seams of the cushion cover.
If needed, gently adjust the cover fabric until they are as straight as possible.

7. Professional Seam Finishing

Inside the cover:
Run your fingertips along each interior seam.
Uniformly push the seam allowances downward.
Flip the cushion and repeat until all seams lie flat against the gusset or border of the cushion.

8. Quality Inspection

Examine the cushion for any wrinkles.
If the inner lining is wrinkling under the cushion cover, gently smooth excess lining toward the zippered gusset.
Neatly tuck beneath the zipper for concealment.

9. Close the Zipper

Use one hand to gently compress the foam insert, keeping it clear of the zipper teeth.
Gently slide the zipper closed in small, controlled increments.
Maintain consistent pressure to prevent any foam, lining, or threads from nearing the zipper's teeth.
As you progress, ensure the gusset seams remain flat and aligned with the seams flattened in step 7.

IMPORTANT: Never force the zipper if resistance occurs. A caught thread can jam the slider mechanism or damage the zipper teeth.

Finishing

Touches & Care

Once the cushion has been stuffed, lightly steam or iron the cover using a cool iron set to the synthetic fabric setting. Glide the iron smoothly over any creases, taking care not to linger in one spot, as prolonged heat can scorch the fabric.

Gently remove any lint using a lint roller or the upholstery attachment of your vacuum cleaner. Carefully trim any loose threads using a sharp pair of scissors. Do not pull on them to break them as this may damage the fabric.

These final refinements will ensure your Ikira cushions maintain their impeccably tailored appearance for years to come.
